What can you do after 10th?

Common paths are 11th–12th (HSC) in Science, Commerce or Arts; a 3-year engineering diploma (polytechnic); ITI trade courses; and paramedical or short-term vocational courses. Each opens different next steps — explore the tracks above to compare them.

Neither is simply “better”. A diploma is hands-on and can lead to a job or direct second-year engineering admission; 12th Science keeps options like degree engineering, medicine and pure sciences open. Choose based on your interest and goals.

Mostly no. Junior-college (11th) admission is on your 10th marks, through the state FYJC centralised admission process — you enter each college’s CAP choice code on the option form. Diploma (polytechnic) admission runs through DTE Maharashtra, and ITI admission through DVET. A few scholarships and talent exams are optional extras.

Pick Science (PCM/PCB) if you aim for engineering, medicine or sciences; Commerce for business, finance and CA/CS; Arts for humanities, law, design and many government jobs. The After-12th page shows where each stream leads.

Both are vocational routes at 11th–12th level, run by DVET. MCVC (HSC Vocational) is a stream in its own right — you take a trade specialisation instead of the usual Science/Commerce/Arts subjects. Bifocal is narrower: you stay in the regular Science or Commerce stream and swap two subjects for a technical group. Both keep further study open.
